This is a great place to go if you want to simply get your watch’s battery replaced. I first did a quick yelp search “fix watch” in the 90024 area. Boy, there’s a ton of poorly rated watch repair stores around here. Tell Time Watches reallly stood out. I then went on a Saturday morning. TTW is right next to a 7-11 and has 3 parking spaces in front. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and asked what I needed. I said, I would like to get a new battery for this watch. They said, okay just be aware that once we open it we can’t guarantee it’ll remain water proofed. I said, okay. I was worried it might take a long time (meaning more than 10 mins), but in less than 5 mins the guy returned the newly fixed watch back to me and said, $8.64 please. DEAL!I paid in cash since they only accept credit for $10+. I will return again!*New battery for $8.64!
I dropped off a watch that was having issues (it had stopped working even though the battery had been recently replaced). They said they could fix it in a couple weeks. Everything was done on time and cost about 60 bucks. They threw in a brand new battery as well.Very nice people at the desk, and a lot of good cash-only deals if youre looking for new watch.Would be back again if I have another problem!
I had a great experience with Tell Time Watches. ?They fixed the loose clasp on my watch for free (as they did with other Yelpers) and replaced a watch battery for $10. ?They also have a great selection of inexpensive watch bands, which is just what I needed to replace my husband’s broken strap.Speedy service and great prices, I’ll definitely be back next time I need a repair.
I needed a new battery for my watch, and based on the reviews, it looked like this was the place to do it.Couldn’t have been easier. I was greeted right when I walked in, she worked on my watch immediately, and I paid and was out the door in under 10 minutes. Honest people, quick service, and reasonable pricing. There are a few reserved parking spots for the store right in front, so even parking was easy.
Close, fast, affordable & really friendly! Definitely the place to go for your timekeeping needs.
My wife and I have been occasional customers here for years. ?Not so much to buy watches — we already have ones we like. But modern watches run on batteries, which have to be changed occasionally. ?When that happens, we take the watch to Tell Time.Just did that this morning. ?The staff was polite, as always. I walked in a couple of minutes after my wife, and somebody came up to the counter to see if I wanted anything. When she assured them I was with her, they quietly went back to what they were doing. After that I looked around curiously, just to see if they had any watches with a digital display. And they did. Some fancy-schmancy places only have watches with analog-style faces (hands on a dial), but Tell Time has at least a smattering of digital face watches. And in the time it took me to walk in and walk around the (fairly small) shopfront once, my wife’s watch battery was replaced. $6+change for the whole thing. Pretty darn good.In fact, there’s really only one thing wrong: there are no chairs for customers to sit in. If you go in when they’re not busy (as was the case today), that’s not a problem. But sometimes you may have to wait half an hour or so because there are other people ahead of you. Then the lack of a chair can be inconvenient. But aside from that, this is a fine store.
I had a watch where the clasp was loose so the watch would un-clasp frequently throughout the day while I was wearing it.I took the watch in, thinking I had to replace the entire clasp. The guy offered to adjust the existing clasp and see if that will fix it before replacing it. ?I hear him hammer (?) the clasp a few times, then he gives it to me. ?the clasp is tight and good as new!I asked him how much I owned him. ?He said “free of charge”. woohoo!I was in and out of there in less than 5 minutes. I liked that there were 3 parking spaces in this small lot dedicated to Tell Time Watches. ?I did not like that when I was trying to leave, there were 2 cars waiting for my 1 spot, so I had to maneuver and squeeze out to get out of that parking lot.
Nice customer service. They had the exact watch band that I needed.
I somehow bent the clasp on my citizen watch and it wouldn’t latch. ?They fixed it in five minutes for free! (Of course I gave them a tip…)
I can see this is a great rated place, which makes my experience all the more bewildering.I brought in a watch that needed a new battery. ?It’s a diver’s watch, so after replacement the watch needs to be properly resealed. ?It’s a factory job they can’t do onsite. ?The guy told me he’d send it to the company, and he would call me in two days with an estimate. He said he needed a $50 deposit. I gave him the deposit and the watch. After 2 weeks I still had not heard from them, so I stopped in to ask. ?A lady told me she would call the factory and call me back in a day or so. ?Another week went by and I heard nothing. ?I stopped in again, and was told the factory didn’t have that type of battery. ?(We’re talking about the original company that made the watch, according to them.) ?So I was told they would get the watch back and call me to pick up when it arrived. ?No call again. I stopped in two weeks after that, picked up the watch which still needed a battery, and got my deposit back. ?I asked why they never called me when they said they would, and got the answer, “the factory didn’t have the battery.” ?Huh?? ?No apology whatsoever, no concern, just a “oh well sh*t happens” attitude. ?They had the watch for 5 weeks and never contacted me at all. ?I think if I hadn’t asked about it I would never have heard from them again. ?So how much do I think about Tell Time watches? ?No more than they thought about me.
I buy my watches with the intention of wearing them in the shower because I’m one of those people who’ll forget something unless it’s physically attached to them. ?Needless to say, my watches break every 1-2 years. ?I brought my latest casualty in to see if they could fix it, and the guy explained that waterproof/resistant watches can handle water but the steam from showers is the real killer. ?I wish I’d found that out 3 watches ago. ?He said it would have to be repaired by the manufacturer. ?So I got a replacement watch a few weeks later and took it here to get the links removed ($8). ?Hopefully I can remember not to shower with this one, and I’ll definitely be returning to Tell Time in the future.
This shop was very helpful in getting a battery replaced in a Kenneth Cole watch I had as well as for a battery change and a pin replaced on the strap. All this for $25 and took about 15 minutes. Big fan!
The battery in my Longines watch stopped working after I got it replaced at some shady jeweler in Monterey Park for a highly inflated price. ?When I went back to the shady jeweler, they said it was not the battery but that I needed to service my watch for $100.I decided to get a second opinion and came here based on the stellar reviews. ?They confirmed my suspicion that it was the battery and replaced it for $12, which is cheaper than the other place. ?My watch works just fine now. ?I’m stoked to find a place with reasonable prices and honest service. ?I plan to come here with all my watch needs from now on!
This place is AWESOME! ?For years, I’ve brought every watch here for every single watch-related thing: change batteries, replace watch bands, adjust metal bracelet-type watch bands, fix watches, etc. – and every time they are friendly, handle it fast, and rarely charge me over $10.The last time I was here, I brought in my dad’s watch that speaks the time when you push a button because it stopped working one day. ?The fact that we had no manual or anything didn’t stop these guys – within 10 minutes, they had replaced the 2 batteries inside, set the watch arms for time AND the voice for time (how the hell, I do not know!) and were charging me less than $10.It’s a family-owned business that’s been here for SO long, so it makes me feel good to go to them and recommend them. ?Plus, they’re in the 7-11 parking lot so there’s plenty of spaces to choose from. ?Again, AWESOME!!
I’ve been trying to find a reliable place to take my watches and I’ve finally found it. ?So far I’ve only had them do a battery replacement and an extra notch on my watch-strap, but they did both quickly, very well, and cheaply. ?Everyone was very courteous (but not overly friendly), however I’d prefer courtesy and great results rather then overly friendly and poor results (which is what a lot of other places offer). ?This place is sort of hidden (right next to a 7-11) and so it looks kinda shady, but its definitely reliable.
I went here to get my watchband replaced. ?They measured the width of the band and took out a band that was fairly thin looking compared to my watch face. ?They said this fit, but then they said it wouldn’t look good and then they pulled out a thicker looking band and said the watch looked better with the watch and they said it doesn’t fit correctly but we can file it down and make it work. ?That was a cool thing for them to do. ?They took the time to make sure everything would fit and look nice. ?I also came back here to replace my watch battery. ?They worked fast and installed it without any problems. ?Great and reliable place to get your battery replaced. ? They also sell a large assortment of timepieces.
I was looking for a watch shop to clean and repair my watch. Tell Time fit the bill. Great service, reasonable prices, quick turnaround, and great results.
Friendly staff, quick and easy service- and they only charged me $6.95 for my new watch battery! ?Which also makes me very irritated about getting ripped off the last time I replaced it a couple years ago in Santa Monica- 15 F-ING DOLLARS?!? ?Grrrr. ?Those other a-holes also tried to convince me that my watch needed “servicing”- a claim which the girl at Tell Time quickly dismissed as a scam. ?Thanks for the honesty, Tell Time. ?I will now take my watches to them and perhaps buy my next one there someday, since they have a huge and reasonably priced selection.
I like this place. They have good prices and excellent customer service. I have been dealing with them for years. They have nice watchs for every budget. I have given a few watchs for gifts, which were timex brand, for only $20.00 They are worth the while to cruise by, even if it is just for a battery change.
My coworker and I went in here on a lunch break to get our batteries replaced. I expected to be waiting around for 20 minutes while they took care of them…but they were lightning fast! 2 minutes flat. Done. And they were significantly cheaper than watches places at the mall…sold.Definitely going back here for any repairs or batteries in the future.
I used yelp to find a good inexpensive place to get some watch batteries replaced. Tell time deserves it’s high rating! They fixed the watches on the SPOT. Took 10 minutes for 2 watches and the total was $12 bucks. NICE ONE. I shall return.
The battery in my wife’s Casio Baby G-shock was dead and we took it to a typical mall watch place. ?The guy there told us that we had to get a special “solar powered” battery that had to be special ordered. ?The thing was that there were no solar panels on the watch! We took it to Tell Time as a recommendation from friends. The staff there was really attentive and knew their stuff. It took them about 20 seconds after opening the back to figure that all was well and that we did not need a special battery. They said that they have been there 30+ years and that they are cleaning up after several of these places that have tried to rip off customers that come to them. The place is small, but they are pretty busy for a stand-alone shop. It’s tucked away right next to a 7-Eleven but it seems everyone in the Westside knows to come to them. They also have a pretty extensive collection of Seiko, Citizen, Tag Heuer, Casio, Skagen and Swatches on sale for men and women. I took my Dad later and we both picked up a watch and they had it sized and everything. The price was right as they were running a nice special at 40% off. ?They had some titanium ones on sale there too for 50% off. They have a permanent customer in me! ?Highly recommended!
Got a watch band shortened, $8, quick decent service.
I had the exact experience expressed by other posters. ?Amazing customer service, great repair location.
Don’t be fooled by the hand-written signs outside… this place is great! As everyone else says, quick service and very reasonably priced. I had links taken out of a brand new watch done right on the spot. They also replaced a battery in another watch. I was in and out in fifteen minutes.
This place has been around for years and I’m glad because where would I go when I need to take care of my watch? Although I have purchased my watches elsewhere or have gotten them as gifts from other places, I can ALWAYS swing by here to get my battery replaced or get extra links for my watch (yeah my fat wrists don’t always fit the model as they come…darn it!). ?They are in the corner, sharing a lot with 7-Eleven and they do have 3 specified spots so you don’t have to worry about parking and it never gets too crowded. ?It seems to be owned by an Asian family, a staple of people who take care of my every need. ?While the older generation are on the stoic side, they still promptly take care of my needs at a reasonable price. ?I don’t have to worry about a pretentious attitude like some of the higher end stores. ?They take care of watches from Fossil to Citizen to Seiko to Tag, no questions asked. ?They have always been dependable and I’m glad I can rely on that. ?I just walked in today to purchase some extra links on my watch from Christmas. ?While they didn’t have the links immediately available, the order will be back in no time flat and they will add the links on at no extra cost when they do come in! Like I said, I really like coming here to take care of my watches and I’m glad that they’ve been around all these years for me to keep coming. ?Dependability and the fact that they have always been able to help me out keep me coming back!
Reliable, straight-up local business. ?Family operation, one store. ?Large selection of watches, service is always curteous and professional. ?Will fix watches and clocks. ?Do not deal with high-end luxury watches.
